From mid-February, daylight increases rapidly. Its time to make fist sowings undercover, in mild areas. Otherwise, wait until March.
Most seeds need higher temperatures to germinate, compared to the subsequent growth of leaves, stems and roots.
February dates are first sowings, and these vegetables can be sown later as well, both for succession and cooler weather.
Week 3 – Spring onion, lettuce, spinach, coriander, early cabbage, broccoli, broad beans, peas for shoots, parsley.
Week 4 – Onion, shallots, spring onions, lettuce, spinach, coriander, early cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, broad beans, peas for shoots, parsley, early peas, aubergine, peppers, chillies, beetroot
